Growing Access To Affordable Health Care
Since the 1990s the world has seen a significant increase in life expectancy, while experiencing a drop in child and maternal mortality. While this shows overall progress for global health care, the world’s less developed regions continue to suffer high mortality rates from often preventable causes – such as infant and maternal mortality, as well as HIV, AIDS, and malaria-related deaths. Join Givv in providing funding for health systems, improved sanitation, improved hygiene, and increased access to physicians for those in need of these services.
What’s the Goal?
The goal is to ensure basic requirements for healthy lives and well-being, across all age groups.
Why Does it Matter?
With the world’s population swelling, health care disparities among developed and less developed countries also grow more stark. Lacking access to medical facilities and supply of life-saving treatments like vaccines, developing nations face generational consequences from high mortality rates – often as a result of fully preventable causes.
What Happens Without Access to Health Services?
Developing countries have a lack of access to health care, doctors, medicines, vaccines, and other amenities. Progress has been made in providing these. However, only half of all women in these regions have access to health care, and more than six million children still die before their fifth birthday. In conjunction with these issues, diseases such as HIV, AIDS, and malaria continue to spread and affect these populations. It is imperative that we help developing nations access services that will help them address health issues and eradicate all diseases.
Can We Achieve This Goal?
This goal is achievable. It requires many of us to look into our hearts and empathize with our fellow man. It requires individuals, corporations, and governments to staunchly choose to help reach the goal of decreasing child and maternal mortality, eradicating preventable diseases, and helping provide funds for developing regions.
